Parr Instrument Company continues to be certified to ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System. This certification was done by TA?V SA?D AMERICA INC. In 1993 Parr Instrument Company was among the first 1000 companies in North America certified to this International Standard. ISO 9001 deals with the companyas Total Quality Management System. It certifies that all of our products are produced under a documented and approved quality management system.
ISO 9001:2008 covers design process as well as the production, inspection, service and repair functions. In addition to ISO 9001:2008, there are other independent, third-party certifications of the Parr design manufacturing and testing processes. These include:
ASME Certification by Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection & Insurance Company.
Pressure vessel design; manufacture and testing for North American and other markets.
a?Ra? Symbol in accordance with the provisions of the National Board of Boiler and Pressure
Vessel Inspectors for metallic repairs and/or alterations at Parras Moline, Illinois Headquarters.
CE Marking by TA?V SA?D AMERICA INC. By affixing the CE marking, the manufacturer or its authorized representative asserts that the item meets all the essential requirements of the relevant European Directive(s).
Relevant directives include (but not limited to) a
– PED (Pressure Equipment Directive) Certification for pressure vessel design; manufacture and testing.
– LVD (Low voltage equipment) for electrical design; manufacture and testing.
– EMC (Electromagnetic compatibility) for electrical design; manufacture and testing.
– Machinery Safety Certification for equipment design; manufacture and testing.
– ATEX Certification Equipment and protective systems in potentially explosive atmospheres. (Only when specified)
Certificates
CSA Certification by the Canadian Standards Association for electrical safety,A design, manufacture and testing. The CSA mark shows that a product has been independently tested and certified to meet recognized standards for safety or performance. Canadian Pressure Vessel/Fitting Registration – The Canadian Registration number (CRN) is a number issued by each province or territory of Canada to theA design of a boiler, pressure vessel or fitting. The CRN identifies the design has been accepted and registered for use in that province or territory. Please contact Parr directly for additional information.
China a Pattern Approval for Measuring Instruments in China a Equipment approval according to the Law on Metrology of the Peopleas Republic of China and relevant regulations.
It is also important to realize that each of these standards represents much more than a single
test to prove that the product does what is expected. Rather it is an audit of our design process to assure that our engineers are using the current codes in their intended mode, and are using them properly. It audits the raw materials we use to see that they are approved for their intended use and that we have an internal tracking system to assure that we can identify materials from the time they are ordered, through their service life in the customer’s hands. These systems do, in fact, include the final inspections and tests most people associate with them, but these are minor aspects that occur after the quality has been designed and manufactured into the product.
One of the principal concepts of ISO 9001 is a?closing-the-loopa?. This means that when quality problems arise, we need to get detailed information back as to the conditions that caused the failure and the exact nature of the failure. In many cases, we will want to get defective parts back for failure analysis even when the cost of the return far exceeds the value of the parts in question.
We are currently active in over 50 countries around the world. As you might imagine, we are hopeful that international quality standards such as ISO 9001:2008 will seamlessly integrate with the myriad of national regulations. We will continue to work with the local authorities to obtain the necessary approvals for our products.
